I should say up front that we as a company, in the history of our purchases, have always bought Scania. A synonym of excellence and quality in the sector. Unfortunately our latest purchase was this scania s650 which from the very beginning started to give some problems, starting from: the particulate filter with issues on the road — driving at 40 km/h for several km because it goes into safety mode — then the water pump, then the clutch with the gearbox and all the necessary repairs. Now, cherry on the cake, the control unit.. but then I say.. what the hell do you make us pay a ton of money for this truck if then they don't work properly and there are always breakdowns. The saying WHO PAYS MORE SPENDS LESS in your case absolutely does not apply. I'm writing this review simply to warn whoever is about to make a purchase to consider well, very well, what to do. A truck that costs as much as a house on wheels must do its job, that is, ensure that the driver can carry out his transport in peace. You can't always live with the anguish of not knowing whether you'll make it home or not. From a Scania we didn't expect this.

Been running an S500 (new shape) on long haul and it’s mostly what you want in a 500hp unit. The Opticruise does clean shifts and it keeps the drive relaxed, less messing around in traffic and on rolling hills. Fuel use is solid for the power, you can tell the aero and cruise logic are doing something on motorway runs, it doesn’t feel like it’s wasting diesel.

Cab is the bigger win for me. It’s quiet, seat’s got enough adjustment to save your back, and the controls are where you expect them. Suspension soaks up rough stretches better than a lot of rigs I’ve had, so you don’t get beat up by the end of the day. Sleeper’s decent too, not fancy talk, just space you can actually rest in.

Only thing I’m a bit mixed on: the driver aids and digital dash are useful but sometimes I just want less warnings flashing at me. Still, the safety stuff (lane assist, collision warning, AEB) is good to have when you’re tired.

Service side looks thought through. Diagnostics call out issues early and Scania’s network/parts access usually means you’re not parked up for days. Price is Scania price though, you feel it upfront.

Ran an S500 for a bit on long haul. First thing you notice is the cab feels put together right, no weird cheap plastics, and there’s actually places to throw your small stuff. Dash is easy to read, and the onboard computer is handy when it starts nagging about something before it turns into a roadside stop.

The 12-speed auto with the crawler gears makes life simpler in yards and on ramps, and the truck stays calm at cruise. базовая stuff like climate control + cruise is there, so you’re not fighting the truck all day.

Only thing that bugs me: fuel use. Around 40L/100km is what I saw in similar work, and yeah it adds up fast when you’re heavy. So comfort and driving feel are solid, but you pay at the pump.

Been running a Scania S500 for about two weeks now and yeah, it leaves a strong first impression.

What I like most is how easy it is to live in. Flat floor is a big deal. You can stand up and move around without doing that half-bend all day. Both seats are comfy, heated and ventilated, and the driver seat has all the usual Scania adjustments plus massage. The bunk setup is just huge, lower bed slides out wider, upper bunk is also proper size, and you even get a ladder. Fridge is big and you can set it to freeze or just chill stuff, that’s handy when you’re out for days.

On the road it feels tidy. The truck holds the lane well, steering feels direct, and the brakes + retarder do their job without drama. Adaptive cruise and the collision warning/brake system actually kicked in for me once when a car cut in, so that got my attention (in a good way). Gearbox so far shifts clean, doesn’t hunt on small climbs at least.

One thing I’m not fully sold on: they moved a bunch of lighting controls and electronics onto the door panel. With rain and you opening the door a lot… I keep thinking how that’s gonna look after a couple winters. Also some storage is high up; I’m 182cm and I still have to reach for it.

Overall it’s a comfortable long-haul office, and it feels safe and predictable to drive.

Been in a Scania S500 for a bit and honestly the cab is what stands out, not the power talk. Storage everywhere. Like, you keep finding more spots for gloves, locks, papers, bottles, food… it adds up on long runs. The little fold-out table is handy when you’re eating or doing paperwork.

The sleeper setup is solid. The bed widens out quick and it actually makes a difference if you’re not tiny. I care about sleep more than fancy trim and this one does it. Having the main controls right there by the bed (temp, radio, etc) is nice when you’re half awake and don’t wanna climb up front.

Driver area feels easy to set up. Steering wheel has a big range of adjustment so you can get comfy fast. The dash info screen is packed but it’s straightforward once you set it how you like (fuel, pressures, trip, all that). Only thing I’m mixed on: so many compartments and controls can feel a bit busy at first, you spend the first week opening the wrong lid.

Also, fridge/microwave setup is practical if you actually use it. USB charging and ports are there, no drama.
